You Were Made for Earth: An Interview

Trevin Wax over at the Kingdom People blog has conducted a great interview with Michael Wittmer. I encourage everyone to go read it and think about what Dr. Wittmer has to say. Also, Dr. Wittmer has written a book that I’m now very interested in buying. It is called:

Heaven Is a Place on Earth: Why Everything You Do Matters to God

I would encourage everyone to think about reading it given what was said in the interview. I would also like to recommend this book on the same topic. Also, click here for a similar interview with David P. Field. It is very thought provoking!

Too many times have I seen myself and others around me equate our ultimate destiny as “going to heaven when we die.” This is simply not the entire Biblical picture and it’s certainly not a Christian’s ultimate destiny.

As a Christian, my hope is not in merely spending an eternity in heaven as a disembodied spirit. My hope is in Jesus Christ and His resurrection, which guaranteed my own resurrection and promised me a renewed home in a renewed earth for all the ages to come! For we who trust and obey Jesus are looking for a better country, that is a heavenly one, in which heaven and earth are finally one, in which God is all and in all, in which the dwelling place of God is finally with man and all our tears have been wiped away!

Praise the Trinity! Praise the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit for their work of redemption which has created a new humamity in Jesus Christ! Amen.
